Abstract

Introduction: This study was conducted to determine the feasibility of using contact tests in routine clinical practice based on the reliability of their results. Objective: To establish the diagnostic value of patch tests and assess the feasibility of their use in the routine clinical practice of allergists and dermatologists. Method: Literature review, subject analysis of patient photographs depicting skin reactions, and comparative analysis of the advantages and limitations of contact tests with other diagnostic methods were used. Result: The results show that among all types of contact tests, the patch test is the most informative. The level of its accuracy is determined by high indicators of sensitivity and specificity due to the principle of operation of the test – the presence of direct prolonged contact of the allergen with the skin, and further improvements: the creation of clear protocols for the procedure, the development of clear criteria for evaluating results, the expansion of the set of allergens, theestablishment of optimal exposure time, the use of new hypoallergenic materials.
