Enfermedad de Hirschsprung. Pasado, presente y futuro

Abstract

Se presenta en esta ocasión un breve recuento dela historia de la enfermedad de Hirschsprung omegacolon agangliónico, conocido desde la famosadescripción del profesor Hirschsprung en 1886 y lospuntos de estudio son: descripción clínica, síntomas,estudios para llegar al diagnóstico exacto y tratamientohasta la actualidad. Agrupada hoy día entre lasenfermedades denominadas “multifactoriales”, en lasque el componente genético está claro (en este casoel proto-oncogen RET), pero existen otros factoresambientales y/o genéticos que modulan la enfermedady pueden hacer que en dos personas con la mismasecuencia del gen, una padezca la enfermedad y laotra no. Aquí es donde reside la importancia de suestudio, para disponer de mayor y mejor conocimientoque permita, en el futuro, explicar la razón de esta yotras patologías, optimizar su tratamiento y mejorarla calidad de vida del paciente.

SUMMARY

This time we present a brief overview of the historyof Hirschsprung’s disease or aganglionic megacolonknown from the famous description of Hirschsprungprofessor in 1886. His description of clinical symptoms,studies to reach the accurate diagnosis and treatmentthrough the years until today. Framed today amongthe diseases called “multifactorial” where the geneticcomponent is clear (in this case the RET protooncogene),but other genetic environmental factorsand / o genetics modulate the disease and can maketwo people with the same sequence of the gene havethe disease and another does not. This is where theimportance of their study, to provide more and betterknowledge to, in the future, explains the reason forthis and other conditions to optimize treatment andimprove the quality of life of patients.
