Evolución de la epidemia de Zika en Venezuela, hasta el 21 de marzo de 2016

Abstract

El propósito de esta investigación es describir
las características y evolución de la epidemia
de zika en Venezuela en el último semestre de
2015 y el primer trimestre de 2016. Se destaca
la importancia del uso del indicador de casos
febriles agudos en exceso, por encima del
máximo esperado según el canal endémico, en
circunstancias de restricción de información o
falta de acceso a fuentes confiables de datos sobre
esta enfermedad emergente. Los datos obtenidos
reflejan la gran magnitud y amplia diseminación
de la enfermedad en nuestro territorio. Se hacen
recomendaciones para fortalecer la vigilancia y
el control de esta nueva amenaza para la salud
de la población.

SUMMARY
The objective of this research is to describe the
characteristics and evolution of the epidemic
zika in Venezuela in the last half of 2015 and the
first quarter of 2016. The author emphasizes the
importance of using the indicator of acute fever
cases in excess, above the maximum expected
as the endemic channel in circumstances of
restriction of information or lack of access to
reliable sources of information on this emerging
disease. The data reflect the large and wide spread
of the disease in our territory. Recommendations
to strengthen surveillance and control of this new
threat to the health of the population are made.
