Advancements of artificial intelligence in higher education: an analysis through academic literature
Keywords:
Artificial Intelligence, Intelligent Tutoring, Intelligent Tools, Ethics in Research, Higher educationAbstract
The study explores the perspectives of artificial intelligence in higher education through an analysis of the academic literature. From a methodological standpoint, a systematic review of sixteen (16) articles published in peer-reviewed journals was conducted, based on specific inclusion and exclusion criteria and following a defined protocol. For data analysis and presentation of results, five conceptual categories were employed: I) Artificial Intelligence and Learning, II) Intelligent Tutoring Systems, III) Artificial Intelligence Tools, IV) Artificial Intelligence Techniques for Data Analysis, V) Ethics in Information Retrieval Using Artificial Intelligence. Among the study's findings, it is highlighted that the integration of artificial intelligence into the university educational context has brought about a series of significant benefits, such as personalized learning, the implementation of intelligent tutoring, the creation of educational content, instant feedback, and academic performance evaluation. However, it also poses challenges and ethical dilemmas that must be carefully addressed. These challenges include concerns about plagiarism and the creation of non-authentic content. Therefore, it is essential to implement measures to promote ethical, responsible, and reliable AI, thus ensuring a safe and transparent educational environment.
