ESTUDIO RETROSPECTIVO DE DOSCIENTOS CASOS DE MIIASIS PRESENTADOS EN EL HOSPITAL DE PEQUEÑOS ANIMALES "DR. DANIEL CABELLO MARIANI". FACULTAD DE CIENCIAS VETERINARIAS, UNIVERSIDAD CENTRAL DE VENEZUELA DURANTE LOS AÑOS 1996 A 1999

Resumen
Se hizo un estudio retrospectivo de 200 casos de miiasis ingresados al Hospital de Pequeños Animales Dr. Daniel Cabello Mariani de la Facultad de Ciencias Veterinarias de la Universidad Central de Venezuela durante enero de 1996 a diciembre de 1999. La información se basó en las historias clínicas, registrando los datos correspondientes a: fecha, mes, año, especie animal, raza, sexo, edad, causa, ubicación anatómica y daño a los tejidos. De los 200 pacientes 192 (96%), eran caninos y 8 (4%) felinos. El 62% fueron machos y el 38% hembras. La mayor casuística se presentó en las razas puras (61%). La edad de los pacientes se ubicó en mayor porcentaje entre 0 a 5 años. Las zonas anatómicas más afectadas fueron: ano - genital (19%), auricular (16,5%), miembros torácicos (12%), cola (12%) y ocular (10%). De acuerdo al daño a los tejidos, el mayor porcentaje (79%), correspondió al grado II. Las causas traumáticas fueron las más frecuentes (65%). Se presentaron casos todos los meses observándose con mayor frecuencia en el lapso mayo – diciembre, durante los cuatro años estudiados. Con relación al agente etiológico, se diagnosticaron 7 casos de miiasis por D. hominis.
Retrospective Study of Two Hundred Cases of Myiasis Performed at the Small Animals Hospital "Dr. Daniel Cabello Mariani" of the Faculty of Veterinary, Central University of Venezuela from 1996 to 1999
ABSTRACT
This is a retrospective study of 200 cases of myiasis attended from january 1996 to december 1999 at the Small Animals Hospital Dr. Daniel Cabello Mariani of the Faculty of Veterinary at Central University of Venezuela. The information was based on clinical records with the following data: day, month, year, animal species, race, sex, age, cause, anatomical location and tissue damage. From 200 patients, 192 (96%) were canines and 8 (4%) were felines. 62% were males and 38% females. More cases ocurred in pure races (61%). The age of the patients ranged from 0 to 5 years. The most affected anatomie sites areas were anus - genital (19%), ear (16.5%), thoracic limbs(12%), tail (12%) and Ocular (10%). According to tissue damage the highest percentage (79%) corresponded to grade II. Traumatic causes were the most frequent (65%). Cases presented every month, but a higher frecuency observed in the period may - december, during the four years of study. In relation to the etiologic agent, 7 cases of myiasis were diagnosed by D. hominis.
