Tiroidectomía casi total sin lugol en la enfermedad de Graves-Basedow

Abstract

Analizamos los resultados de un estudio que iniciamos en 1984 y concluimos en 1994 el cual consistió en hacer algunas modificaciones al tratamiento quirúrgico tradicional del Graves-Basedow, como son: El no uso del lugol en el preoperatorio, que hace más corto el tiempo de hospitalización y en consecuencia es más económico y sencillo, sin haber aumentado las complicaciones post-operatorias, como son los sangrados incontrolables (hematoma) que obtuvimos en un 6,25%, sin presentar crisis tirotóxicas.

The authors analyze a modified surgical treatment of the traditional surgery of Graves-Basedow hyperthyroidism that started in 1984 and finished in 1994. These changes consisted of not using the iodine preparation lugol as a preoperative medication, it shortened the time of hospitalization making it easier and economical. Complications were the same as the traditional method.
