Abstract

RESUMEN: Se presenta una revisión sobre las distintas alternativas terapéuticas utilizadas para tratar las distintas formas de leishmaniasis, las cuales incluyen quimioterapia, vacunas profilácticas y terapéuticas, tratamientos físicos (crioterapia, termoterapia, fototerapia) y uso de plantas o sus extractos con actividad leishmanicida, haciendo comparaciones entre los diferentes procedimientos y destacando su aplicación en la actualidad.

ABSTRACT: This is a review about the different therapeutic alternatives used, to treat the different forms of leishmaniasis, which include chemotherapy, prophylactic and therapeutic vaccines, physical treatments (cryotherapy, thermotherapy and phototherapy) and the use of plants or their extracts with leishmanicida activity, making comparison between the procedures and highlighting their application at the present time.
