Las matemáticas y el nacimiento de la modernidad

Abstract

El trabajo pretende mostrar, luego de un breve repaso de la evolución de las matemáticas en Occidente en la primera mitad de este milenio y de algunos factores que contribuyeron a ella, cómo, a partir de su desarrollo, se imponen ciertas concepciones que están en el centro de las propuestas de la modernidad. Entre ellas consideramos en especial la noción de representación, la nueva manera de interpretar el conocimiento y la concepción de la razón como cálculo contrapuesta a la noción tradicional.

Abstract 

This work intends to show, after a short review of the evolution of Mathematics in Western culture in the first half of this millennium and of some factors that contributed to it, how certain conceptions that are in the centre of the proposals of the Modernity are imposed because of its development. Among them we especially consider the notion of representation, the new way of interpreting knowledge and the conception of the reason as calculation as opposed to the traditional way of considering it.
