Abstract

Abstract

Manufacturing performance in different countries (historic dynamic analysis).

Development processes have been characterized by the emergence of a strong and solid progress in the size of the industry, both, in production and in the ability to create jobs. Indeed, there are not highly developed countries without a strong industrial base, and at the same time, the hypothesis is not sustainable that highly industrialized countries are classified as underdeveloped or developing.

In light of these ideas, the development of industry in Latin America and other countries were studied. These countries include: Germany, France, Italy, Norway, Canada, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico and Peru.

The paper highlights the most relevant features of the processes of industrialization in Latin American countries, the processes of de-industrialization and some explanations of the early and rapid decline of industry capacity to generate value added and employment. Finally, some recommendations are suggested.
