Abstract

We research the Dutch Disease under a sectorial analysis perspective. Our findings suggest that countries that concentrate their exports on commodities face, unavoidably, the Dutch Disease. In order to enquire about what set of rules could possibly mitigate or reverse the Dutch Disease in the Venezuelan economy, we implement fiscal and exchange rate rules in a computable general equilibrium model. The results show that such set of rules are effective but in detriment of private consumption levels in the short-run.
