| Abstract: | El presente texto expone los lineamientos para el desarrollo del Trabajo Final de Grado para optar al Título de Magister Scientiariun en Conservación y Restauración de Monumentos. Consiste en un Estudio y Proyecto de Restauración del Santuario Eucarístico Santa Capilla de Caracas, ubicado en la esquina entre la Calle Norte 2 y la Avenida Urdaneta. La iglesia, de estilo neogótico data de 1883, cuando en el segundo gobierno de Guzmán Blanco se erige dentro del conjunto de obras públicas para celebrar el Centenario del Natalicio del Libertador, demoliendo la colonial Iglesia de San Mauricio. El proyecto fue realizado por el Ingeniero Juan Hurtado Manrique, quien luego proyecta su ampliación entre 1889 y 1891. Fue reformada nuevamente entre 1917 y 1921 por el Arquitecto Luis B. Castillo para incorporar la nave central actual. Más tarde fue mutilada parcialmente para ceder espacio al trazado de la Avenida Urdaneta, y en el terremoto de 1967 resultó seriamente afectada, lo que indujo la sustitución de sus techos de madera y tejas por losas de concreto armado. Su actual estado de deterioro y su reconocimiento oficial como Monumento Histórico Nacional son factores que sustentan la realización de un proyecto para su restauración y puesta en valor. This text sets out the guidelines for the development of the Final degree work to qualify for the title of Magister Scientiariun in conservation and restoration of monuments. It consists of a study and project of restoration of the Eucharistic Sanctuary Santa Capilla of Caracas, located in the corner between the 2 North Street and the Urdaneta Avenue. The neo-Gothic church dates back to 1883, when in the second Government of Guzmán Blanco was erected within the set of public works to celebrate the centenary of the birth of Libertador, demolishing the colonial Church of St. Maurice. The project was carried out by the engineer Juan Hurtado Manrique, who aditionally plans to their extension from 1889 to 1891. It was reformed again between 1917 and 1921 by architect Luis B. Castillo in order to incorporate the current central nave. More late was mutilated partially to give space to the layout of the Urdaneta Avenue, and in the earthquake of 1967 it was seriously affected, forcing the replacement of their roofs of wood and tiles by slabs of reinforced concrete. Its current state of disrepair and its official recognition as a National Historic Monument are factors that support the realization of a project for its restoration and valorisation. |
