About the Journal

Focus and scope

"Gestión I+D" is published by the Central University of Venezuela, specifically by the Postgraduate Program in Research and Development Management / ascribed to the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences. It is one of the most important instruments for producing, publishing, and referencing the academic work produced by the Postgraduate Program in Research and Development Management.

The journal's main objective is to promote the professionalization, generation, reflection, and publishing of knowledge of the National and International Scientific Community with articles of the highest quality and scientific relevance, for whose purposes it follows international standards and counts on a specialized inter-institutional and international team in different areas of scientific knowledge.

"Gestión I+D" is an electronic journal that is open scientific-academic in nature, free of charge, with open access to complete texts. It is written in Spanish (with summaries in English, Spanish and French), with a fixed periodicity (biannual), and receives texts throughout the year. The journal is published on January 15th and July 15th of every year (updated 2021). It is open to all currents of thought, provided they are framed within the Postgraduate in Research and Development Management's topics or lines of research.

Collaborations are received continuously through the email, revistapgid@gmail.com, using the technological platform owned by the Central University of Venezuela, "SABER UCV," with its Open Journal System for visibility.

Gestión I+D demands that every contribution submitted for publishing be original and unpublished and not simultaneously be submitted to other journals or editorial bodies, complying with the "Standards for Authors" by attaching - A Declaration of Responsibility (See checklist before sending), based on the publication standards of the American Psychological Association (APA)

Contributions are submitted to an external evaluation system by experts (peer-review) under the methodology of blind pairs (double-blind review) and subjected to a preliminary analysis by the journal's editors. Compliance with this system guarantees authors an objective, impartial, and transparent revision process, making it easier for the article to be included in renowned international databases, repositories, and indexes.

The following types of articles may be published:

  • Original articles: unpublished and complete studies that strictly apply the scientific method.
  • A review of articles: deals with topics of interest in general through an updated review that contains authors' contributions, analyses, criticism, and discussions.

However, the Editorial Committee may accept other types of texts it deems pertinent, framed within the Postgraduate in Research and Development Management's topics or lines of research.

Gestión I+D's team is not responsible for the judgments and opinions issued by the authors who collaborate with the journal.

Finally, we thank the researchers, readers, referees, members of committees, and institutions for the trust and patience offered to make this project possible.

Peer review process

  • Gestión I+D relies primarily on the collaboration of external evaluators (from both the publishing entity and the country), although it also counts on national collaboration.
  • All contributions must adhere to the rules that appear as "Standards for Authors."
  • All contributions should be framed within the Postgraduate in Research and Development Management's topics or lines of research.
  • Before submitting their contributions, all researchers must comply with the journal's Code of Ethics.
  • All submitted contributions must be original and unpublished: papers submitted simultaneously for publication in other journals or editorial bodies should not be submitted. (Authors need to complete a form for these purposes).
  • The revision process contemplates using plagiarism detection software.
  • Before being published, every scientific article submitted first goes through an editorial evaluation that determines its adherence to the quality, technical, and structure standards established in the "Standards for Authors." This process lasts a maximum of 7 business days.
  • In the event that the research does not comply with the "Standards for Authors" or plagiarism is detected, it will be returned to the author for correction and resubmission, for whose purposes s/he will have seven business days to modify the observations made.
  • If the research complies with the first review, it will then be submitted to an arbitration committee (External Reviewers), appointed by the Editorial Committee, through the peer review system, in a double-blind mode, specialized in the subject matter presented.
  • For the decision, the anonymous coincidence of results of two of the three requested opinions will be taken into account.
  • The opinions of the referees, as well as the authorship of the papers, are strictly confidential.
  • Authors receive the complete opinions of the referees consulted.
  • The evaluation will be carried out according to a reasoned opinion meeting the following criteria:
  • Originality
  • Relevance
  • Updated
  • Appropriate extension
  • Adequate preparation of the summary
  • Clarity and coherence of speech
  • Internal organization
  • Scientific rigor
  • Timeliness and relevance of the sources
  • Contributions to future research
  • Innovative contributions
  • Compliance with editorial standards
  • If modifications are requested, these will be sent to the researcher, who must submit a new version to the corresponding email address within the established period (maximum 7 business days).
  • Each referee will receive the new version. If they are satisfied with the modifications or if new modifications are necessary, these will be sent to the researcher. (Maximum 7 business days)
  • Once approved, the translation of the title, abstract, and keywords will be verified for adequacy in Spanish, English, and French (activity carried out by the editorial committee).

 Guarantees for a double-blind review

Gestión I+D ensures that the contribution sent lacks information that can identify its authors. In this sense, every document is verified to ensure that:

  • There are no descriptions used in the references, sources of graphs, and tables where the names of the researchers are specified.
  • The authors' identities have been removed from the properties of the file.

Note: It should be noted that the editorial committee will include these fields once the article has been accepted, complying with the procedures established in the assignment of metadata, both physically and electronically.

  • The Journal's Editorial Committee will resolve any aspects not foreseen in these regulations.
  • The estimated times for the evaluation and publication processes are described in the statistics item of this journal.
  • The format used by the arbitration committee is as follows:
