Objective: To reveal the managerial praxis of nursing in the face of emergency and disaster events from the perspective of public health actors. Methods: Qualitative research, post-positivist paradigm, phenomenological-hermeneutic method. The setting was the Autonomous Teaching Service Central Hospital of Maracay, Venezuela. Key informants comprised three nursing managers (two supervisors and one coordinator). Data were collected through in-depth interviews and analyzed following Martínez (2006) steps: categorization, structuring, and triangulation. Results: Three fundamental categories emerged: Adverse Event, characterized by operational overflow and resource constraints; Managerial Roles, where planning, delegation, and action articulation are evident; and Strategic Process, underpinned by participatory leadership and efficient supply management. Conclusions: Managerial praxis in crisis contexts is configured as a dynamic process that integrates the efficient organization of human and material resources, supervision based on continuous control and evaluation, and leadership aimed at ensuring equipment availability, thereby guaranteeing an effective institutional response to adverse situations.
