Rescripting Mental Image of Pain in Patients with Chronic Pain: A Clinical Protocol

Background: Pain image is a relatively new field consideredin patients with chronic pain. Clinical experience andthe studies conducted have indicated that mental imagesrelated to pain play a key role in cognitive and emotionalprocessing and pain experience in patients. The purposeof the present study was to develop a protocol for the rescriptingof mental images for patients with chronic paindisorder to alter the perception and experience of pain inthese patients.Methods: The initial compilation was developed bystudying the rescripting mental imagery methods and wasorganized according to the therapeutic needs of patientswith chronic pain. Initial running of the protocols wasconducted on a heterogeneous sample of chronic painpatients.Results: Kappa coefficient was obtained 0.8 to 1 to ensurethat the most relevant and correct contents were selected,showing an excellent agreement. The validity coefficientof the current protocol was obtained 1, ensuringthat the protocol sections are best suited to the structuresfor therapeutic intervention, which showed a completevalidity coefficient. Furthermore, the transferability of thecurrent protocol was discussed in this paper.Conclusions: Manipulating mental-images - which containsimportant cognitive elements of the patient as acompressed file and has an important connection withthe emotional aspect of pain - can be provided for thepatients with chronic pain as a short-term psychologicalintervention.Descargas
