Resumen

Este artículo se ubica en el campo de estudio que ha venido desarrollando el autor por la necesidad de definir un concepto de movimiento social que permita entender las amenazas a la que se encuentran sometidas la democracia y la sociedad civil por manifestaciones colectivas denominadas “movimientos sociales”. El objetivo de esta propuesta es realizar una aproximación conceptual de movimiento social, descriptiva y valorativa que nos permita entender y diferenciar de ellos el fenómeno de movilizaciones sociales que actualmente enfrentan nuestras democracias y sociedades civiles, que lejos de promover
transformaciones de sus estados y sistemas políticos lo que buscan es alcanzar el poder con pretensiones de cambios muy distintas a las de modernización y democratización que deben perseguir los movimientos sociales como agentes de cambios. El autor plantea la necesidad de pensar los movimientos sociales como relación dominante de cambios para la modernidad, que marcan profundamente el desarrollo y fortalecimiento de la de la democracia y la sociedad civil. The author raises the need to think about social movements as a dominant relationship of changes for modernity, which profoundly mark the development and strengthening of democracy and civil society.
