Objective: To determine if the polymorphism -1082 A> G (rs1800896) of the IL10 gene confers susceptibility to the development of gastric cancer present in patients diagnosed with gastric cancer, evaluated in the gatroenterology unit in a fourth level center of the IVSS General Hospital "Dr. Miguel Pérez Carreño ”. Methodology: Descriptive cross-sectional study. The statistical treatment was performed based on the calculation of allelic and genotypic frequencies. The statistical significance of the frequency differences, between the group of patients and controls, will be estimated by the Chi-square test (X2). The Sample is constituted by twenty-two 22 patients of legal age of both sexes, not related, with Gastric Cancer. The average age was 57.45 years, there is a 63.6% male predominance, clinical manifestations, weight loss was recorded in 40.9%, 63.6% have smoking habits, in 27,3% alcoholic habits were reported, 18.2% have presented at some time infection with helicobacter pylori. The endoscopic findings were 50%, classified as Borrmann III and 45.5% were classified as Borrmann IV, genotype AG 76.9% and the mutated G allele 53.8% presented the highest frequency in Gastric cancer patients, while genotype AA 65.4% and wild A allele 77.9% presented the highest frequency in healthy control
