Objective: To evaluate the behavior of the sphericity index in fetuses with restricted growth in pregnant women who attended the Ultrasound and Maternal Fetal Medicine Unit of the “Concepción Palacios” Maternity Hospital in Caracas, between January and June 2024. Methods: Prospective study, descriptive, cross-sectional, case and control. It included 40 pregnant women with CFR and 40 with adequate growth, who underwent fetal biometry and weight estimation, Doppler velocimetry to assess the uterine arteries, umbilical artery, middle cerebral artery, ductus venosus and cerebroplacental index, and fetal echocardiography for measurement. of the global sphericity index (GIE). Results: A decrease in IEG values was observed in fetuses with CFR, regardless of gestational age. The pathological IEG values occurred mostly in those cases with gestational ages less than 32 weeks. The majority of fetuses with CFR and altered sphericity index had altered uterine-feto-placental Doppler parameters; no correlation between the different parameters. In stages of restricted fetal growth, alteration of the sphericity index was observed regardless of the stage of hemodynamic deterioration. Conclusions: The majority of fetuses with growth restriction present an alteration in the sphericity index (IE), altering as the weight progressively reduces, that is; the fetal biometric component; being independent of the progressive functional deterioration assessed in the Doppler. IEG should be included in the comprehensive assessment of a fetus with CFR for early diagnosis and prevention of cardiovascular diseases
