Objective: To establish a nomogram by percentiles of the fetal thoracic thymus relationship in healthy pregnant women, between 20 weeks and 40 weeks + 6 days, who attend the maternal fetal medicine service of the Concepción Palacios Maternity Hospital, in the period January 2023 – September 2023. Methods: Descriptive, prospective and cross-sectional study that will include a stratified sample of 382 healthy pregnant women with pregnancies between 20 and 40 weeks + 6 days, approximately 18 to 19 patients for each gestational week, of normal evolution and fetuses with growth between the 10th and 90th percentile. The thymus-thoracic ratio will be measured. A nomogram of the fetal thymus will be prepared by percentiles according to gestational age. Results: The measurement of the thymus at 20 weeks was 6.7 mm, while at 40 weeks it tripled its value to 20.8 mm. The thorax increased from 32.7 mm at 20 weeks to 67.2 mm at 40 weeks. The thymus-thoracic ratio was 0.20 at 20 weeks and 0.30 at40 weeks. All three measures were slightly higher in female fetuses (p > 0.05) and in those of Afro-descendant mothers (p > 0.05). The proposed nomograms are presented. Conclusion: thefetal thymus grows exponentially as the weeks of gestation pass, but these measurements do not present any difference in terms of fetal sex and maternal ethnicity |
