| Abstract: | Introducción: El adenocarcinoma es el tipo más común de cáncer gástrico en el mundo, generalmente afecta al adulto mayor entre los 50 y 70 años, rara vez ocurre en los sujetos más jóvenes los cuales representan entre 2 y 8 %de la población y es responsable de alrededor de 1 millón de muertes/año en el mundo, principalmente en países de Asia y Latinoamérica, en Venezuela constituye la segunda causa de muerte asociada al cáncer, registrando un total de 23.121 casos. Objetivo: Analizar las características clínico patológicas del cáncer gástrico en biopsias endoscópicas y especímenes de gastrectomías en pacientes jóvenes y adultos. Periodo 2008-2017 en el Departamento de Anatomía Patológica del Hospital Militar Dr. Carlos Arvelo y el Instituto Oncológico “Dr. Luis Razetti”. Métodos: estudio retrospectivo y descriptivo de biopsias diagnosticadas en el en el Departamento de Anatomía Patológica del Hospital Militar Dr. Carlos Arvelo y el Instituto Oncológico “Dr. Luis Razetti”. Resultados: un total de, se clasificó en dos grupos, pacientes mayores de 40 años, 538 (90,1%) y menores de 40 años con 59 (9,9%), en mayores de 40 años el 493 (91,6%) fueron de tipo intestinal mientras que, en menores de 40 años, fue de tipo difuso (69,5%). Introduction: The adenocarcinoma is the most common type of gastric cancer in the world, usually affects the elderly between 50 and 70 years, rarely occurs in younger subjects who represent between 2 and 8% of the population and is responsible for around of 1 million deaths / year in the world, mainly in countries of Asia and Latin America, in Venezuela it is the second cause of death associated with cancer, registering a total of 23,121 cases. Objective: Analyze the clinical pathological characteristics of gastric cancer in biopsies endoscopy and gastrectomy specimens in young and adult patients. Period 2008-2017 in the Department of Pathological Anatomy of the Dr. Carlos Arvelo Military Hospital and the Oncological Institute "Dr. Luis Razetti".Methods: retrospective and descriptive study of biopsies diagnosed in the Department of Pathological Anatomy of the Dr. Carlos Arvelo Military Hospital and the Oncological Institute "Dr. Luis Razetti". Results: a total of, was classified into two groups, patients older than 40 years, 538 (90.1%) and less than 40 years old with 59 (9.9%), in older than 40 years the 493 (91.6%) were of the intestinal type while, in children under 40 years, it was of the diffuse type (69.5%). |
