Abstract

Abstract

An study was carried out in the corn zone of Yaracuy State (Venezuela) aimed to evaluate the effect of four conservation tillage systems on the population dynamic of heterotrophic (bacteria, fungi, celulolitics, Bradyrhizobium spp.) and chemiolitotrophic microorganims (nitrite and nitrate oxiders), and over physic and chemical variables in surface soil (1-10 cm) of degraded Alfisol, before and during the crop cycle. The treatments evaluated were: 1) fallow cover (CB), 2) incorporated fallow (BI), 3) crotalaria cover (CCr), Crotalaria juncea L., and 4) incorporated crotalaria (CrI). Crotalaria was grown in the same place of study. The incorporation of vegetal residues had greater effect over microbial populations, physic and chemical variables in soil surface than application of vegetal residues in cover. This might be due to the greatest contact between organic matter and microorganims; the effect was significative over fungi and celulolitics populations. Crotalaria residues showed the greatest effect over the chemiolitotrophics and the Bradyrhizobium spp. populations.
