Léntigo maligno facial. Lo que esperamos
Abstract
Facial lentigo maligna. What we expected
Summary
We present the case of a 73 years old man with an hyperpigmented macule in
the left paranasal region since 2015. Initial diagnoses included solar lentigo and
simple lentigo. In 2024, a surgical approach guided by dermatoscopy was
performed due to the increase in size of the lesion. The final diagnosis is
melanoma in situ. The lesion is excised with oncological margins of 5 mm and the
defect is closed with a skin graft. Dermatoscopy allows early recognition of
lentigo maligna, improving precision in biopsies site precision and guiding the
surgeon in surgical margins. This improves follow-up of treatment and injury
control, reduces mortality rates and improves patient survival.
