Abstract

Histiocytoses include a group of proliferative disorders, reactive or neoplastic, of the cells of the mononuclear phagocytic system, derived from bone marrow promonocytes. We present a male 2 year old preschool child who initiated his present disease with clinical signs characterized by an increase of volume at the right latero-cervical region, not painful, with no signs of phlogosis, fever, and a persistent papular type eruption located at the scalp and diaper area. Through clinical, paraclinical, and histological studies we concluded he had a histiocytosis of Langerhans cells. We present this case because it is very infrequent entity where the dermatologist played a decisive role for its diagnosis.
