Soft skills and inclusion: a necessary synergy for 21st-century education

RESUMEN
La educación inclusiva no puede ser comprendida ni practicada eficazmente sin considerar las habilidades
blandas como una parte esencial del quehacer docente. Este artículo explora cómo competencias como la
empatía, la comunicación asertiva, la inteligencia emocional y el trabajo en equipo permiten construir
entornos escolares más humanos, respetuosos y adaptados a la diversidad. Se argumenta que las
habilidades blandas no son un complemento, sino un pilar para lograr la equidad educativa y garantizar una
participación plena de todos los estudiantes.

ABSTRACT
Inclusive education cannot be effectively understood or practiced without considering soft skills as an
essential part of teaching. This article explores how competencies such as empathy, assertive
communication, emotional intelligence, and teamwork enable the creation of school environments that are
more humane, respectful, and adapted todiversity. It argues that soft skills are not a complement, but a
pillar for achieving educational equity and ensuring the full participation of all students.
