Abstract

The aim of  this essay is to analyze the concept of  acquaintanceinthe philosophyof Bertrand Russell. First, Russell’s epistemologicalprogramand worksare presented ina generalmanner.Then,
theconceptof acquaintance is defined and characterized, as well as theso-called principle of  acquaintance. After that, acquaintance is placedin Russell’s epistemology as the core of  his theory of  knowledge. Finally,I will makesome critical remarks concerningtherole of acquaintancein Russell’sepistemologicalframework.
