Abstract

The objective of this article is to identify vulnerable, excluded, and disconnected individuals and groups, and analyze how they cope with the extreme heat of Mexicali, Baja California (Mexico), considered one of the hottest cities in the world. Direct observation, participant observation, and field notes were used for data collection. The results show that in the city, the elderly, migrants, undocumented individuals, deportees, homeless people, and addicts are marginalized and disconnected from society.
