FLORA MARINA DE LA PENÍNSULA DE MACANAO, ISLA DE MARGARITA, VENEZUELA. I. CHLOROPHYTAY PHAEOPHYCEAE

Abstract

RESUMEN

Se presenta el estudio taxonómico de las algas marinas bentónicas del phylum Chlorophytay la clase Phaeophyceae para la Península de Macanao, Isla de Margarita,Venezuela.Se describen 26 especies, las cuales representan nuevos registros para el área, ampliandola lista ficoflorística de la región y el rango de distribución nacional de los taxa. Se aportanclaves diagnósticas para cada grupo, descripciones taxonómicas, figuras con detalles decada especie y se discuten particularidades taxonómicas de éstas.

ABSTRACT

A taxonomic study of the benthic marine algae of the phylum Chlorophyta and theclass Phaeophyceae is given for the Peninsula of Macanao, Margarita Island,Venezuela.Twenty six species are described that represent new records for the area, enlarging thephycofloristic catalog of the region and the range of national distribution of the taxa. Completediagnostic description and figures are given for each species. The taxonomy of the speciesis discussed.
