The following article is part of a Doctorate Thesis in Sociology, which have had the support of the Council of Scientific and Humanistic Development, CDCH, of Central University, Venezuela. Nowadays in Venezuela, local statistics are being produced by public institutions and by popular experiences. Frequently this local information is not used. Social Observatories are proposed as a tool that might contribute to the use, by different actors, of sociodemographic information for planning and civil society participation activities. This paper not only presents the main results of a qualitative research of an intentional sample taken from the Barcelona’s Observatories Net in Spain (Observatorios de la Diputación de Barcelona, España), but also exposes some ideas, based on lesson learned, for the implementation of social observatories in Venezuela.es_VE
