| Abstract: | International migration between countries such as Colombia and Venezuela results in the flow of people from one country to another and the exchange of goods, customs, and labor. Using data collected from five Community Councils in the Nuevo Horizonte neighborhood in Caracas, between 2010 and 2012, this study aims to explore Colombian immigration into Venezuela from a micro social perspective. The data was gathered from a census and interviews conducted in the community. The analysis of the data allows the understanding of a section of Caracas's population (Colombian immigrants) that for decades has played an important role in the social and economic development of the city and the country. Furthermore, the study provides clues to understand the dynamic and structure of neighborhoods in the rest of the city. |
