| Abstract: | La literatura reporta la etiología de la enfermedad periodontal, relacionándola principalmente a las bacterias, no obstante, recientemente también se han reportado otros microorganismos como virus, hongos, levaduras y protozoarios. Los virus Herpes Simple I (HSV), Citomegalovirus (CMVH) y Virus EpsteinBarr (EBV) han sido implicados en la patogénesis de la enfermedad periodontal y aunque varios estudios indican el papel de estos virus en los diferentes tipos de enfermedad periodontal, los mismos no se investigan frecuentemente en la práctica clínica. |
