Objective: To validate the PHES psychometric scale for the diagnosis of minimal hepatic encephalopathy in patients with liver cirrhosis who go to the Gastroenterology services of the General Hospital del Este “Dr. Domingo Luciani ”, hepatology consultation of the“ La Floresta Medical Institute ”and the internal medicine service of the General Hospital“ Dr. Miguel Pérez Carreño ”, in the period between August 2018 - October 2019. Methods: a descriptive study was carried out, with a nonexperimental design, comparative, multicentric, field, cross-sectional and prospective level. Results: The sample was represented by 60 patients of which 30 were healthy and 30 patients with liver cirrhosis, the average age was 47.05 years ± 1.77; The predominant sex was female (63.33 %). Of the 12 patients with EHM, everyone had liver cirrhosis, finding a statistically significant association between the presence of minimal hepatic encephalopathy and the presence of liver cirrhosis. EHM was presented more frequently among patients aged 36 and 50; of the female sex; they did not do any work whose school years were between 4 and 10 years. Conclusion: A significant number of patients with a diagnosis of liver cirrhosis with minimal hepatic encephalopathy were found through the application of the test, thus providing very important data for the early therapeutic intervention of this population group and avoiding progression of the conditionen_US
