Over the last decade, there has been an increase in the number of murals created in Latin American communities, particularly in countries such as Brazil, El Salvador, Colombia, and Mexico, with the aim of reclaiming public spaces affected by direct violence. In the community of La Cota 905 located in Caracas, Venezuela, mural art was used as a psychoeducational tool for the resignification of spaces affected by violence; therefore, this research aims to understand the process of resignifying violence through mural art in post-armed conflict communities. The paradigm of this research is constructivist, framed within a qualitative study consisting of an ethnographic design. The participants were 9 people, corresponding to an age group between 18 and 65 years old, residing in the Cota 905 community of Caracas, Venezuela. Semi-structured interviews were conducted as the method of data production, along with thematic analysis to analyze it. It is suggested that muralism, implemented under a psychoeducational and community framework adapted to local idiosyncrasies, is an effective and sustainable tool for the beginning of the resignification of violence and the reconstruction of the social fabric in communities affected by armed conflict; likewise, it is concluded that the effectiveness of this type of intervention is based on a systemic model that prioritizes the relational dimension over mere aesthetic expression. |
