SECOND HOMES USERS IN SPAIN. REGIONAL PROFILES

Abstract

The aim of this article is to discuss the regional profiles of households which had a second home in 2001. In particular, it is intended to determine how socio-demographic and territorial characteristics and the urban context of the different Spanish Autonomous Communities (AC) influence the possession of this type of housing. This analysis will allow us to verify whether there are differentiated territorial models for the possession of this accommodation. To achieve this objective, various logistic regression models were carried out, starting from previous studies by the same authors for the whole of Spain. The most important factors explaining these models are, on the one hand, a dense and compact habitat and, on the other hand, the socio-economic status of second home users. The results of the statistical modelling performed clearly confirm the existence of regional differentiation. Drets: Aquest document està subjecte a una llicència d'ús Creative Commons.
