To evaluate the perception of body image and behavior towards food in a group of classical ballet dancers. Methods: The study was descriptive, observational and cross-sectional. The sampling was intentional and not probabilistic, limited to the number of participants of the Ballet Teatro Teresa Carreño. The data collection instruments and techniques were a semi-structured interview, the Questionnaire of attitudes towards food (EAT-40) and the Machover Human Figure Test. Results: 28 dancers were evaluated, 50% male and 50% female. The mean age of the sample was 26 ± 3 years. The most frequent level of education was bachelor (71.4%). Most had more than 2 years in the institution (53.6%). 12 (42.9%) dancers with abnormal eating behavior indicators suggestive of eating disorder (ED) were detected. In the three domains of the EAT-40, the following results were obtained: 5 (17.9%) due to diet and concern about food, while 7 (25.0%) with perceived social pressure and discomfort with eating and 3 (10.7%) some type of psychobiological disorder. Of the domains of the Karen Machover human figure test, they were related to TCA from what was related in other investigations indicators such as: size, pressure, stroke, symmetry, inclusion of figure, mouth, fingers, lips, pockets, buttons and inadequate integration. Conclusion: The correlated results between the variables indicate that 42.9% of the sample has abnormal eating behaviors. The similarities of the results of the human figures start from: difficulty in the relationship with the other, search for approval by the environment, energy and rigidity. Instead, the differences are: coping skills, perception of the integration of the body figure, dependency, infantilism and difficulty in impulse control. The indicators related to abnormal eating behaviors were determined to be: traits of social and psychological maladjustment, traits of inferiority, rejection, inhibition, low energy, impulsiveness, dependency, difficulty in the relationship with the surrounding environment and instability in the perception of reality in addition to poor psychological functioningen_US
