Abstract

The role of the psychologist is configured around the demands that arise in society and the population with which one works. In the hospital setting, the importance of the inclusion of psychology professionals in the comprehensive approach of patients has been highlighted; especially in regard to anorectal diseases, whose etiology is shaped by both structural conditions and psychological variables. Within the Coloproctology Unit of the University Hospital of Caracas research has been conducted that has allowed the convergence between both disciplines,highlighting the latter referring to the profile based on competencies that the psychologist who works in said unit should have.
