| Abstract: | En el siglo XX se produjeron grandes transformaciones en el espacio geográfico margariteño. En este trabajo, previo a un análisis posterior, se señalan factores y agentes de acontecimientos que han
concurrido y favorecido tales transformaciones. Entre otros se anotan
movimientos demográficos de entrada y salida de población, dotación de infraestructuras y medios para transporte, comercio y servicios, y
valorización de la isla como destino turístico y recreacional. Estos acontecimientos y las transformaciones generadas ocurrieron mayoritariamente en la segunda mitad del siglo, y se tradujeron en cambios
en la utilización del territorio, que son evidentes en las expansiones urbanas,
la aparición de nuevos espacios urbanizados y la conformación de zonas de aprovechamiento turístico y comercial. |
| Description: | During the twentieth century, great transformations took place in
Margarita’s geographical space.The present work, previous to an analytical work to be carried out later, describes factors and agents
related to certain events which have concurred and which have favoured
such transformations. Among these, demographic movements may be
considered,as well as infrastructure and means of transportation supplied,
commercial activities and services and the increased importance of the island as a touristic and recreational destination. These events and the generated transformations ocurred mainly in the second half of the century
and produced changes in land-use evident in urban expansions as the appearance of new urban spaces and the conformation of commercial and touristic areas. |
