Description: Objective: To determine the effectiveness of radio waves for the treatment of calcific tendinitis of the rotator cuff extracorporeal shock. Methods: treatment was applied with waves radial 14 patients with clinical and radiological diagnosis of calcific tendinitis of the rotator cuff extracorporeal shock, 3 sessions were held in affection shoulder (weekly) with 1500 pulses, 2 bar, 12 Hz were performed. assessments at baseline, at the 4th, 8th and 12th week. pain by visual analog scale, functionality shoulder with UCLA scale and quality of life with Lattinen scale was evaluated. Results: In the evolution of pain significant changes between baseline and evaluation at the 4th week (p = 0.002) was there; like the 8th week and 12th week from baseline (p = 0.001). Shoulder functionality as UCLA significant changes to the 4th week (p = 0.002) was demonstrated; this with an increase in the 8th week and remained similar to the 12th week (p = 0.001). Regarding the improvement in the quality of life for the 4th week was significant (p = 0.001); and so it remained the same throughout the evaluation of the 8th and 12th week, both statistically different from the initial. Conclusions: Extracorporeal radial shock waves in calcific shoulder tendinitis proves successful and represents a reliable therapeutic method producing good functional results in the short term.
