Abstract: Several evidences suggest the importance of the immune system in the genesis and progression of atheromas; however, few reports have dealt with the effect of lipoprotein metabolism on leukocyte function. Here, we discuss the interactions between lipoprotein metabolism and NK (CD3-CD16+CD56+) cells and provide new hypothesis to ascertain the role of these cells in the genesis of coronary disease.
