Desarrollo tecnológico y construcción de los hospitales venezolanos en el siglo XX

Abstract

El trabajo describe la evolución histórica del desarrollo tecnológico y el diseño que ha acompañado el desarrollo de los conocimientos de la ciencia médica. La tecnología de la construcción a principios del siglo XX hizo posible el reemplazo de la tipología de pabellones por la de bloque de varios pisos, haciendo énfasis en la funcionalidad y eficiencia de las circulaciones. El desarrollo de la tecnología de la computación incorporada a técnicas de diagnóstico y tratamiento ha obligado a introducir modificaciones en el diseño de los hospitales. El recuento de los hospitales realizados a través de programas oficiales en las principales ciudades del país, refleja la incorporación de las distintas tipologías y avances tecnológicos en consonancia con el tiempo en que fueron construidos. Abstract The work describes the historic evolution of the technical development and design that has gone with the expansion of knowledge in medical science. Construction technology at the beginning of the Twentieth Century has made possible for the replacement of pavillions’ typology for that of blocks of several floors, emphasizing functionality and efficiency of the circulations. The development of technological computing incorporated to diagnosis and treatment techniques has compelled the introduction of modifications in the design of hospitals. The inventory of the hospitals carried out through official programs in the main cities of the country reflects the incorporation of the different technical typologies and advances in consonance with the time when they were built.
