Los sesenta años del Instituto Anatomopatológico “Dr. José Antonio O’Daly” de la Universidad Central de Venezuela

Resumen

El Instituto Anatomopatológico” Dr. José Antonio O’Daly” (IAP) de la Ciudad Universitaria (UCV), fue inaugurado hace 60 años, el 3 de julio de 1949 aunque según los documentos, su fundación fue el 16 de junio de 1956 cuando comenzó a funcionar completamente como organismo asistencial. Su planta física alberga tres instituciones orgánicas de la Facultad de Medicina (UCV): El Instituto Anatomopatológico propiamente dicho, El Instituto de Inmunología y la Cátedra de Anatomía Patológica de la Escuela Razetti. El IAP fue fundado por el Dr. José Antonio O’Daly Seraille, quien elaboró y suscribió el Proyecto de Instalación del mismo en 1949. El IAP se ha desarrollado ampliamente durante estos años gracias al trabajo de anatomopatólogos, técnicos histólogos .y a todos los empleados quienes en conjunto hicieron posible sus funciones asistenciales, docentes y de investigación. El IAP se distingue por ser la única institución Venezolana especializada en Anatomía patológica que dispone de Secciones subespecilizadas en patología renal, ginecopatología, patología respiratoria, neuropatología, cardiopatología., patología gastrointestinal, Patología linfohematopoyética, osteopatología, oftalmopatología, citopatología, inmunohistoquìmica y ultraestructura y otras. También, es el Centro de Referencias Nacional en Patología (CENRAP) desde 1993 y el mayor centro de formación de recursos humanos (residencia de postgrado en Anatomía patológica, formación de Histotecnólogos y de citotecnólogos. Abstract
The Institute of Pathology” Dr. Jose Antonio O' Daly”(IAP) of the Faculty of Medicine, Central University, Caracas, was officially inaugurated 60 years ago, on the 3rd of July 1949, and according to its founder, it was the 16th of June 1956 when it began to work as a public institution. Its physical plant lodges three institutions of the Medicine Faculty of the Central University of Venezuela: The Institute of Pathology itself, the Institute of Immunology, and the Chair of Pathological Anatomy of the Razetti School of Medicine. Founded by Dr. Jose Antonio O' Daly, who elaborated the project, the IAP has developed during these years thanks to the contributions of: pathologists, technicians and employees. The IAP stands out for being the only institution specialized in pathology that has Sections of renal, gynecological, respiratory, neuro, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, blood, bone, and ophthalmic pathologies, it also realizes immunohistochemistry and ultrastructural studies. The IAP is also the National Center of Reference in Pathology since 1993, and has postgraduate courses in pathology and courses for technicians.
