La geografía del turismo, como rama de la geografía humana y económica, centra su análisis en el desarrollo
de la actividad turistica y sus múltiples vinculaciones con el territorio. Su dimensión temporal, las temáticas
y abordaje han variado; diversos autores señalan que en algunos países se ha pasado de una visión descriptiva
a una analítica e integral. La investigación recopila y revisa la bibliografía concerniente a la geografía del
turismo que permite determinar los diferentes enfoques y temáticas sobre la actividad. Se analiza una variada
literatura, vinculada a la evolución de la disciplina, a partir de la cual se especifican temas claves y visiones
disímiles que caracterizan cada uno de los puntos de vista que la ciencia geográfica explora cuando aborda el
turismo. El objetivo del estudio fue identificar, tipificar y analizar los trabajos de Licenciatura en geografía
relacionados con el turismo producidos por la Universidad Central de Venezuela para determinar las oportunidades
y desafíos en el estudio de la geografía del turismo en Venezuela.
Abstract:
Tourism geography, as a branch of human and economic geography, focuses its analysis on tourism and its
multiple links with the territory. Its temporal dimension, the themes and approach have varied; some authors
point out that in some countries it is evident that they have gone from a descriptive to an analytical and comprehensive
vision. The research compiles and reviews the bibliography concerning the geography of tourism
that allows determining the different approaches and themes on the activity. A varied literature, linked to
the evolution of the discipline, is analyzed, from which key themes and dissimilar visions are specified that
characterize each one of the points of view that geographic science performs when it approaches tourism.
Likewise, the geography of tourism as an area of interest is proposed as a line of research at the Venezuelan
university, it will study the theme of tourism studies, the disciplines involved, and the profile of researchers.
The objective of the study was to identify, typify and analyze the Bachelor’s degree in geography related to
tourism produced by the Central University of Venezuela to determine the opportunities and challenges in the
study of the geography of tourism in Venezuela.
