Key Role of Cytokines in Immunity of inflammatory Bowel Disease

Resumen

This article reviews current knowledge about the main areas of research in regard the role of cytokines implicated in the inflammatory response, onset, and exacerbation of Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). The discussion presented in this review describes several key pro-inflammatory cytokines and anti-inflammatory cytokines, their relationship with animal models of IBD and human patients, and possible underlying mechanisms.
