Abstract

This research is a study aimed at characterizing the construction of the journalistic discourse about the US presidential election process 2014-2016 in Cuban newspaper Granma, from the perspective of Critical Discourse Analysis as a research method. The results reflect that the main printed media of the country built a journalistic discourse about the US presidential election process 2014-2016, with the use of structures and discursive strategies that validated the ideological approach of the medium, according to the context; and the ideological contrast that exists between the works of Cuban journalists and specialists was evident, with respect to the approach of the offices of foreign agencies that also addressed the issue in the newspaper.
