Abstract

The general objective of the geophysical study was to detect the location of water and gas pipes in an area of 580 m2. For this research, the technique of ground penetrating radar (GPR) was used, which is a non-invasive geophysical method that uses electromagnetic signals as a source, in order to generate radargrams in which buried objects, such as pipelines, can be detected. During acquisition 4 longitudinal profiles and 5 transversal profiles were made with 80 and 200 MHz antennas. As aresult, it was possible to verify the presence of a water pipeline that coincides with the indications of the Hidrocapital operators to the east of the study area. In addition to this, it was possible to interpret the existence of two other possible gas or water pipelines at the extreme west and at the central zone of the study area. Finally, it was possible to outline the areas with the lowest risk of impacting a pipe during the drilling of the well.
