Resumo

The presence of the hibiscus pink mealybug Maconellicoccus hirsutus (Green) (Hemiptera: Pseudococcidae) is reported in Venezuela. Its spread from the Island of Margarita to the rest of the country is discussed, host plants recorded, damages and control measures adopted after the introduction.
