Abstract

El presente artículo ofrece una aproximación a la concepcióndel desarrollo de A. Sen, recorriendo las categorías conceptuales y loshilos argumentativos que la constituyen. Se expone la significación deldesarrollo concebido como un proceso ético y de justicia social, basadofundamentalmenteenla ampliacióndelas libertadesindividuales.
Seguidamente,sereseñaladiscusiónsobre la justicia socialadelantada
porSencon las distintas corrientesteóricascontemporáneas.Porúltimo,se ilustran sus investigacionesempíricas sobre alpapelpromotor
deldesarrolloejercidoporlasinstituciones democráticasylaamplituddelas libertadescivilesy políticas.
