| Abstract: | Extraction yield values are published from Venezuelan coals in a wide range of maturity levels, with a
suite of organic solvents under Soxhlet conditions; these data were collected from assays done since 1985
towards today, in the Organic Geochemistry Lab of the ICT. Middle - and low-rank coals exhibe the best
yields, in both conventional and nitrogen -containing Lewis basic solvent. Some published models about
coal structure are reviewed, concluding that only those models where the coal components are linked by
molecular associations type hydrogen bridges are consi stent with evidences of solvent -assisted
depolymerization of coal. |
| Description: | Se presentan los valores de rendimiento de extracción de distintos carbones venezolanos en diferentes
estados de madurez, ante un conjunto de solventes orgánicos en condiciones Soxhlet; estos datos
provienen de ensayos efectuados desde 1985 hasta el presente en el Laboratorio de Geoquímica Orgánica
del ICT. Los carbones de rango intermedio y b ajo son los que presentan los mayores rendimientos, tanto
en solventes convencionales como con bases de Lewis nitrogenadas. Se revisan varios modelos
publicados sobre la estructura del carbón y se concluye que sólo modelos que expliquen a los
componentes que conforman el carbón como unidades enlazadas mediante asociaciones moleculares tipo
puentes de hidrógeno, son consistentes con las evidencias de depolimerización asistida con solvente. |
