Valores Ucevistas: Personajes que hacen la historia de la Universidad Central de Venezuela

Abstract

Este trabajo de grado denominado “Valores Ucevistas: personajes que hacen la historia de la Universidad Central de Venezuela”, intenta servir de estímulo para el rescate de la memoria de aquellas personas de la comunidad Ucevista que con su entrega, trabajo constante, y espíritu de lucha, han hecho aportes significativos en la conquista de la excelencia en nuestra Alma Mater. En esta oportunidad, la investigación se realizó en honor a la labor ejecutada por el Doctor Willy Ossott Machado, quien se desempeñó como Docente, Director de las Escuelas de Ingeniería y Arquitectura, así como Decano de la Facultad de Ciencias Matemáticas y Naturales, Ingeniería, y Decano Fundador de la Facultad de Arquitectura y Urbanismo. Así mismo, tuvo una relevante actuación en los cargos de Vicerrector, y Secretario del Consejo Académico, por espacio de cinco años. Además, fue designado Rector (encargado) en dos ocasiones. Por otra parte, es importante destacar, que dicho personaje fue un hombre múltiple, de una vasta cultura. Realizó todos sus estudios en Venezuela, y se desarrolló en las áreas de la ingeniería, la arquitectura, el dibujo, la pintura y la música. Además, en sus diferentes desempeños se afanó con mucho tesón, disciplina y responsabilidad. Sus alumnos y amigos lo recuerdan como un hombre justo, honesto, y coherente con sus ideas. Por su parte, Willy Ossott antepuso, en todo momento, los intereses de los estudiantes, de la Universidad, y de la Patria, al suyo propio. Su norte estaba guiado por la búsqueda de la excelencia en la formación de los ucevistas. Por tales razones, se consideró la investigación de la obra y el legado de Dr. Willy Ossott, con la finalidad de que su trayectoria sirva de ejemplo a las actuales generaciones.

SUMMARY The purpose of this thesis called “Valores Ucevistas*: important persons that made the history of the Universidad Central de Venezuela”, is to be an encouragement/incentive to recover the memory of those persons that were part of the Universidad Central de Venezuela “Ucevista” community, who provided, with effort, constant work and struggle spirit, significant contribution in the conquering of the excellence in our Alma Mater. Particularly, this investigation, was made in the honor of the work made by Doctor Willy Ossott Machado, who was a teacher, Director of the Engineer and Architecture Faculties, as well as, Dean of the Mathematic and Natural Science, Engineer and Founder Dean of the Architect and Urbanism Faculties. Likewise, during a period of five years, Dr. Willy Ossott Machado performed a significant work as Vice-chancellor and Secretary of the Academic Counseling. Two other times he was also appointed Chancellor (in charge). It is important to mentioned, that Dr. Ossott was an experienced and highly trained person. He studied in Venezuela and worked in the engineering, architecture, drawing, paint and music areas. Besides, he performed his multiple tasks with effort, discipline and responsibility. His students and friends reminded him as just, honest men, always coherent with his ideas. On his part, Willy Ossott always put the interests of his students, those of the University and the Country, before his own interests. His goals were led by seeking the excellence when teaching his students also called “ucevistas” Having the above, the investigation of the legacy and work made by Dr. Ossott was considered an example to future generations.
