| Abstract: | Los niños y adolescentes son en esencia vulnerables y deben estar protegidos de todos los riesgos que puede conllevar el incluirlos en investigaciones científicas. Objetivo: Analizar los aspectos metodológicos y bioéticos considerados en la investigación odontológica en niños y adolescentes realizada en la Facultad de Odontología, UCV. Métodos: investigación descriptiva, transversal y ambispectiva con muestreo intencional y aplicación de un instrumento tipo cuestionario a 64 odontólogos para indagar sobre las investigaciones realizadas o en desarrollo. Los datos obtenidos fueron revisados con el sistema informático SPSS23. Se realizó un análisis estadístico descriptivo. Resultados y discusión: los aspectos bioéticos considerados fueron: el valor científico y social de las investigacionesen niños y adolescentes, la selección de la muestra y relación riesgo/ beneficio a los que se sometió a los sujetos de estudio, transparencia de las investigaciones y cumplimiento de los principios universales bioéticos: autonomía, beneficencia, no maleficencia y justicia. Dichos aspectos se aplicaron en la mayoría de los estudios aun cuando se detectaron ciertas fallas. Dentro del respeto por la autonomía, destaca la obtención del consentimiento informado en el 92% de los estudios, aunque su concepción como proceso no es bien conocida por los consultados. El asentimiento informado se solicitó en el 42% de las investigaciones y principalmente de forma verbal. Conclusión: se debe insistir en la formación de los miembros de los diferentes centros e institutos de investigación, fortalecer el comité de bioética de la Institución y fomentar la publicación de las investigaciones odontológicas en niños y adolescentes en revistas indexadas. Children and adolescents are essentially vulnerable and must be protected from all the risks that may be associated with including them in scientific research. Objective: To analyze the methodological and bioethical aspects considered in dental research in children and adolescents carried out at the Faculty of Dentistry, UCV. Methods: descriptive, cross-sectional and ambispective research with intentional sampling and application of a questionnaire-type instrument to 64 dentists to inquire about the research carried out or in progress. The data obtained were reviewed with the SPSS23 computer system. A descriptive statistical analysis was carried out. Results and discussion: the bioethical aspects considered were: the scientific and social value of the investigations in children and adolescents, the selection of the sample and the risk / benefit ratio to which the study subjects were subjected, transparency of the investigations and compliance of the universal bioethical principles: autonomy, beneficence, non-maleficence and justice. These aspects were applied in most of the studies even when certain flaws were detected. Within respect for autonomy, obtaining informed consent stands out in 92% of the studies, although its conception as a process is not well known by those consulted. Informed assent was requested in 42% of the investigations and mainly verbally. Conclusion: it should insist on the training of all members of the different research centers and institutes, strengthen the Institution's bioethics committee and promote the publication of dental research on children and adolescents in indexed journals |
