| Abstract: | Objetivo: Analizar la aplicación del consentimiento informado (CI) en el Hospital Servicio Oncológico Hospitalario. Métodos: estudio descriptivo transversal. Se entrevistaron 32 pacientes y 30 médicos y se analizaron los procedimientos actuales para obtener el CI. Resultados: Se encontró que solo 3 pacientes eran analfabetas con promedio de 53,6 años. 93,7% conocía su diagnóstico, 65,6% los tratamientos disponibles y 50% las complicaciones. Al 43,7% le informaron del porcentaje de curación con el tratamiento propuesto; 71,8% no participó en la escogencia del tratamiento y 59,3% desconocía que tenía derechos. A 87,5% se le explicó el diagnóstico y a 65,6% le explicaron los tratamientos disponibles. El 75% no conocía el CI, ni firmo autorización alguna para su tratamiento. En cuanto a los médicos, tenían en promedio de 36,5 años. El 50% eran residentes y el resto adjuntos. Todos indicaron que informaban al paciente de su enfermedad, los diferentes tratamientos y los resultados. Todos manifestaron conocer el derecho del paciente a ser informado y a recibir asistencia médica; 93,6 % el derecho a su privacidad y 96,6% conocían el derecho a participar en la escogencia del tratamiento. Todos conocían el CI pero solo 63,3% lo usa en su práctica hospitalaria y 66,6% lo usa en cada procedimiento ofrecido. De los 3 CI de los servicios quirúrgicos, elaborados por los mismos médicos, se encontró que ninguno reunió los 23 elementos esenciales. Conclusiones: los pacientes fueron informados, sin embargo, desconocían sus derechos. El CI no existe de forma institucional en los diferentes servicios. Objective: To analyze the application of informed consent (IC) at Hospital Servicio Oncológico Hospitalario. Methods: descriptive cross - sectional study. Thirty-two patients and 30 physicians were interviewed and the current procedures for obtaining IC were analyzed. Results: It was found that only 3 patients were illiterate the age average was 53.6 years. 93.7% knew their diagnosis, 65.6% knew treatments options and 50% there complications. 43.7% were informed of the cure rate with the proposed treatment; 71.8% did not participate in the choice of treatment and 59.3% were unaware that they had rights. At 87.5% the diagnosis was explained and 65.6% explained the available treatments. 75% did not know the IC, nor signed any authorization for their treatment. The doctors had an average of 36.5 years, 50% were residents and the rest attending. All indicated that they informed the patient of his illness, the different treatments and their results. All said they knew the patient's right to be informed and to receive medical care; 93.6% the right to their privacy and 96.6% the right to participate in the choice of treatment. All of them knew the CI but only 63.3% used it in their hospital practice and 66.6% used it in each procedure offered. Of the 3 ICs of surgical services, produced by the same physicians, none were found to have met the 23 essential elements. Conclusions: patients were informed; however, they were unaware of their rights. The IC does not exist in an institutional way in the different services |
