Trastorno del espectro autista: Productividad científica, análisis y tendencias en la investigación universitaria en el área metropolitana de caracas

Abstract

El Trastorno del Espectro Autista (TEA) supone un enigma actualmente, pues su origen y naturaleza siguen siendo aspectos difusos en el desarrollo del conocimiento científico, presentando desafíos para la intervención educativa y terapéutica. En Venezuela, existe gran variedad de investigaciones referentes al tema, cuya principal fuente de impulso ha sido la investigación propiciada por universidades, a través de trabajos de Licenciatura y Especialización. Aparentemente, estos estudios han surgido sin un hilo conductor que les proporcione continuidad y sistematización, por lo que parece imperante la necesidad de realizar un estudio que ayude a encauzar la investigación sobre los TEA en las Universidades del Área Metropolitana de Caracas. Se planteó un proyecto documental de alcance exploratorio-descriptivo, en el que se realizó una recopilación del trabajo investigativo universitario en el área, desde sus inicios hasta la actualidad; evaluando aspectos teóricos y metodológicos. Todo ello, siguiendo las etapas correspondientes a un análisis cienciométrico y utilizando métodos de análisis cualitativo y cuantitativo. Adicionalmente, se examinó la correspondencia entre lo que es investigado con aquello necesitado por la comunidad mediante un procedimiento de validación social, determinando hasta qué punto la investigación era la más adecuada, eficaz y ventajosa para la situación social y teórica-metodológica. Se concluyó proporcionando recomendaciones que orientaran futuros estudios científicos acordes a las necesidades imperantes en la población y al estado de desarrollo presente en la investigación, relacionadas con la evaluación y abordaje de los niños diagnosticados dentro del Espectro Autista.

Nowadays, Autism Spectrum Disorder continues to be an enigma, since its origin and nature remain unclear for the development of scientific knowledge, presenting challenges for educational and therapeutic intervention. In Venezuela, there have been multiple investigations concerning the subject, which have apparently arisen without a thread that gives them continuity and systematization. One of the main sources that lead these studies has been prompted by university research, through undergraduate and graduate papers degrees. It seems imperative the need of a study that provides guidelines to research on the issue of ASD within the Universities of the Metropolitan Area of Caracas. For this purpose, a documentary inquiry, with an exploratory-descriptive scope, was designed, conducting an inventory of university research work in the area, from its beginnings to the present; evaluating at the same time, theoretical and methodological aspects. All this was performed following the stages corresponding to a scientometric analysis and using qualitative and quantitative methods of analysis. Furthermore, it was examined the correspondence between what is investigated, and what is needed by the community through a social validation procedure, determining how appropriate, effective and advantageous the studies were, for the current social and theoretical-methodological status. In conclusion, this study provided an important amount of recommendations to guide future scientific researchers, who will be able to develop knowledge, consistent with the prevailing needs in the population and the current state of research, related to assessing and addressing children diagnosed within the Autism Spectrum.
